This slide was remotely triggered from low on the slope. One person was caught but not bureid. The debris did bury a snowmobile. The slide failed on depth hoar. Photo: GNFAC

Southern Madison, 2016-01-10

This slide was remotely triggered in Tepee Basin in the southern Madison Range. The rider who triggered the slide was not caught, but the slide ran down and hit a party member lower on the slope. Fortunately the rider was not buried, but his sled required some digging to be freed from the the avalanche debris. The slide failed on facets near the ground. Photo B. Radicky
