Unofficial diagram of what creates recent strong winds in the Bridger Range. Regardless of what causes them, the end result is a little bit of good skiing near the ridge, and a lot of bad skiing at lower elevations. Also, wind slabs can form in wierd places.

This slide probably occurred on Tuesday (Jan 15). Nearly a foot of light snow fell right at the Bridger Ridge followed by strong winds. Much less snow fell at lower elevations. New snow and wind are always a good recipe for avalanches. Photo: GNFAC
