Lionhead area near West Yellowstone  

A group of riders near Lionhead were riding on small but steep slopes. One rider got stuck and his buddy came to help dig him out. The slope avalanched burying multiple sleds and one rider up to his neck. Nobody in the group was carrying rescue gear. Photo APG

This slide occurred in Tepee Basin north of West Yellowstone. If you look closely, you can see two snowmobiles caught in the debris. These riders are lucky the slide did not go bigger. Photo E Heaps
